Bernalillo County Democratic Party Resolutions

The Committee reviews resolutions submitted by members of the Democratic Party of Bernalillo County. If passed,

  • the resolutions may be submitted to the County Convention where they are voted on;
  • and if they are matters of state-wide concern, they may be sent to the State Platform and Resolutions Committee where SPARC would vote on whether it should refer the resolution to the State Central Committee.
    • The SCC would then vote on whether Democratic Party of NM should adopt this resolution.
    • SPARC may also decide to include language from the resolution in the Democratic Party of New Mexico’s platform.

The County Resolutions Committee decides to approve resolutions both of local (county) and state-wide concern. Usually, the Resolutions Committee will refer resolutions to SPARC only if they are of state-wide concern.

The DPBC Resolutions Committee has the authority to compile and operate within the broad parameters of a local platform for Bernalillo County. Generally, both the county platform and its resolutions reflect the Party’s core values. However, the platform is a more general statement of the county’s aspirations, while its resolutions are more specific, containing action items for a prescribed time period. The county platform would not re-create the state platform, but would be consistent with it, while addressing principles, aspirations, and issues specific to the county. To succeed, it needs ideas and input from Bernalillo County Democrats such as you.

The resolutions committee meets the second Thursday of every month at 5 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.

If you are interested in being a resolutions committee member, send an email to resolutions@bernalillodems.org.
