Democrat Tammy Fiebelkorn easily took the Albuquerque City Council District 7 seat on Tuesday night, overcoming her Republican opponent 62% to 38%
Fiebelkorn, an environmental economist who has lived in Albuquerque for 20 years, thanked all who voted for her, stating that her election “is among the greatest honors of my life and I take the trust you have placed in me with the utmost gravity. I look forward to representing the good people of District 7 on City Council and will work hard for you!”
Fiebelkorn’s election leaves Democrats with a 5 to 4 margin on the Albuquerque City Council, after District 9 Democrat Rob Grilley was defeated. Fiebelkorn said she plans to make climate change, violent crime prevention, and supporting businesses during the pandemic her priorities.
Congratulations, Tammy!
