09/07/2026 — People are watching enormous data centers being proposed and built in their communities. They hear about the tremendous amounts of electricity required to operate them. They worry about water consumption, noise, land use, environmental effects and the possibility that ordinary consumers could end up paying higher utility bills to provide the infrastructure these facilities require.

The principle is straightforward: the government does not get to decide which stories the American people are permitted to hear simply because government officials do not like those stories.
