Dear Bernalillo County Democrats,
I wish to send this special letter in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The wisdom and sacrifice of Dr. King’s dedication and life often get lost in the busy-ness of preparing for the legislative session. I don’t think we should let that get lost.
2025 brings us to a time when his “I Have a Dream” speech really resonates again. I believe that if we can imagine something, we can make it happen.
We are on the brink of so much good!
In New Mexico, we are closer to realizing Dr. King’s dream than much of the rest of the nation, and I urge us to carry on proudly, not in despair or distress, but in hope and determination.
Give his speech a listen, or if you prefer, a read.
Then take a moment and dare to dream for yourself.
What are the sounds of liberation in your dream?
What are the smells of a safe and equitable Earth?
What does it feel like to know that all of us are taken care of equally and equitably?
Let your dreams live vividly in your mind, and come back to them again and again and again.
What we can imagine, we can achieve.
In hope and determination,
Marisol Enriquez
