We want to thank all of you who were able to help with the Joy Junction holiday meal last month! There are so many needs in our communities, and many of our local communities will be at even more risk as Republicans take over at the national level later this month.
We invite you all to join us in volunteering to help out with the annual PIT count. Every year in January, the New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness organizes an annual survey of unhoused people all over New Mexico. This is the Point-In-Time count, and the information collected in this survey is used to help organizations and governments understand the scope of the unhoused challenge in their efforts to help. NMCEH uses volunteers to do this surveying work, which happens over the course of about a week at the end of this month.
There is a required training, held via Zoom, that is required before we can help. You can volunteer as a surveyor, to go with a team and interview unhoused folks, or you can volunteer in a support role distributing materials.
There is a need for many hands to help conduct this project!
Deadline to sign up: Please sign up using the 2025 Albuquerque Point-in-Time (PIT) Count Volunteer Sign-Up form by Thursday January 16.
When asked to list the agency you are signing up with, please fill in Democratic Party of Bernalillo County, so we can be organized on teams together to the extent possible.
Notify us: Please also email Abby Foster, 2nd Vice Chair (2ndvicechair@bernalillodems.org with the day and role you’re volunteering for. We’d like to be able to give NMCEH an estimate of how many volunteers will be on our teams.
If you are unable to survey, but would still like to help, there is a need for the following donated items that will be distributed during the count:
- beanies
- socks
- gloves
- hand warmers
- emergency foil blankets
- hot chocolate packets
- high calorie snacks (individually packaged)
- mini flashlights
- batteries (AA and AAA)
- bottled water
- wipes
- lip balm
- travel pack tissues
- gallon-sized Ziplock bags
To donate any of these items, please email the organizer directly at Ilsebiel@icloud.com for drop off details.
Thank you all for all your work in our party, and for your energy in helping out our communities in need!
