Organizing for Power
Organizing for Power is an international organization for organizers, activists, and anyone interested in creating social change founded by Jane McAlevey. Originally a union organizer, the training has been expanded to include many others who are building strength for social change. I first participated in this free online training last year. It is being offered again in November 2026 (four sessions) after the General Election. I believe many in the Democratic Party might be interested in joining me.
The basic principles are simple:
Organizing — not mobilizing or advocacy
We need to build supermajorities to win the changes we need
We’re only going to win by talking to – and organizing with – the people who don’t already agree with us
We need to build supermajorities to win the changes we need

The Power-Up training in November will focus on core organizing methods including leader identification, semantics, 1-1 organizing conversations, charting and structure tests, plus how to build a plan to win your next campaign.
The program will take place across four sessions, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from November 10-19. It is free and open exclusively to groups of 10+ people. Each group will be expected to meet twice outside of course times: once before the training to work on a preparatory assignment, and again after the training to complete a final assignment.
Please reach out to me if you’re interested.
