By Eric Antonio Valdez, 2nd Vice Chair, Democratic Party of Bernalillo County
In these trying times, our nation stands at a crossroads. ICE is actively terrorizing communities across the United States, stoking fear and uncertainty about the future of our neighborhoods and our country. The Trump administration and its allies want nothing more than to keep us afraid—to wield fear as a weapon, to silence dissent, and to suppress our collective power. But I, Eric Valdez, refuse to be cowed by their tactics.
Now is not the time for silence. Now is the time for action, for unity, and for courage. We must reject the narrative of fear that the administration wants to impose upon us. Fear may be powerful, but our voices, united in purpose and hope, are even more so. It is our duty to rise above intimidation, to speak out boldly, and to stand together in solidarity against the colossal threat posed by the current presidential administration.
This November, we have the opportunity—and the obligation—to make our voices resonate across the nation. Voting is not merely a civic duty; it is an act of defiance against those who would seek to divide and diminish us. We must mobilize like never before, turning out in record numbers to elect left-leaning candidates who will fight for justice, equality, and the preservation of our democracy. Every vote is a declaration that we will not stand idly by while right-wing tyranny threatens the very fabric of our country.
Do not be afraid to speak out against injustice. Do not let fear dictate your actions or your future. Stay strong and fearless, my friends. The power to shape the future rests firmly in our hands. Let us seize this moment, make our voices heard, and chart a course toward a brighter, more just America. The time is now. The future is ours to claim.
