About Us

The Democratic Party of Bernalillo County (DPBC) is the heart of grassroots organizing in New Mexico’s largest and most diverse county. We are a community of volunteers, activists, and leaders committed to building a more just, inclusive, and democratic future for every family in our state.

Our work is grounded in the belief that government should serve people—not special interests. From protecting voting rights to expanding access to healthcare, from creating good-paying jobs to addressing climate change, Democrats in Bernalillo County are fighting every day for fairness, opportunity, and dignity.

How We’re Organized

The Democratic Party of Bernalillo County is part of the Democratic Party of New Mexico and the national Democratic Party. Locally, we are structured to ensure democracy from the ground up:

• Precincts – Our foundation, where neighbors organize and engage.

• Wards – Groups of precincts working together to build grassroots power.

• Central Committee – Our county’s decision-making body, representing every ward and precinct.

• County Officers & Committees – Elected and appointed leaders who set strategy, mobilize volunteers, raise funds, and build our movement.

Our Leadership

The DPBC is currently led by Chair Jacob Trujillo, a lifelong New Mexican and community organizer committed to strengthening precinct-level organizing, expanding voter engagement, and ensuring Democrats win up and down the ballot.

Chair Trujillo and the hand-picked leadership team are building a stronger, more connected Democratic Party in Bernalillo County — one that reflects the diversity, resilience, and values of our communities.
