The Democratic Party of Bernalillo County has a new Treasurer.
Lauren Leifeste, who brings years of experience in international investment management to the position, agreed to assume the post following the announcement by Paul Timpane that he would leave the post after 4 years.
Lauren, who was born and raised in Albuquerque, holds degrees from Wake Forest University, the University of New Mexico, and Georgetown University. Her most recent post was as Director of Investments for the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, which partners with the private sector to make strategic investments around the world.
She says she had been looking for ways to get involved more directly with the Party and, as a member of Ward 31A, was contacted by Kathleen Moseley, her ward chair and DPBC 1st Vice Chair, about the opening. She welcomed the opportunity. “Anything I can contribute, I am happy to do,” she added.
Having met with Paul and completed the paperwork to transfer her name to DPBC accounts, she says that she is becoming familiar with the systems and responsibilities of the post. She also expects to work closely with Chair Jacob Trujillo on exploring new ideas.
