‘Tis the Season

‘Tis the Season

“It is a fine thing to establish one’s own religion in one’s heart, not to be dependent on tradition and second-hand ideals. Life will seem to you, later, not a lesser, but a greater thing.”
― D.H. Lawrence

At this time of year, we act on traditions which have usually passed across communities and generations and indicate common faith and values. If during this season you have joy, I am happy for you and I wish you more of the same. If you are in pain, please know that this time of year, with all its complexities and expectations, is significant and I understand the difficulty that can accompany “the holidays.”

As Chair of our local Democratic Party, I have a request: I ask that you to act on the values that set us apart as Democrats; we care and we show that we care in real and practical ways. I believe you know what that looks like in your life but if you need an extra place to show your care, please see the post below on giving supplies to asylum seekers in detention at the border. This is an urgent need near the doorstep of our State.

Wherever you are, I send kindest regards to you during this holiday season. I am proud to serve alongside you at this pivotal time of our lives as we continually hone our beliefs in social political equity and act on that conviction. We are truly building the bridge to the democracy we desire while crossing it.

Wishing you wholeness, peace, and joy this season,
Flora
Flora Lucero, Chair
Democratic Party of Bernalillo County
