DPBC WARD CHAIR CHALLENGE
DEM WARD CHAIR CHALLENGE TO REGISTER VOTERS STARTS SEPTEMBER 1;
Volunteers to Start Contacting Chairs
The Democratic Party of Bernalillo County (DPBC) is celebrating the month of September as “Voter Registration Month”, in conjunction with the National Register to Vote Day on September 24th.
Recognizing the importance of registering voters NOW, Flora Lucero, DPBC Chair said, “We are issuing a Democratic Ward Chair Challenge to get voters registered at the grassroots level – in our neighborhoods, where we live.”
“The Democratic Ward Chair Challenge is a fun way to encourage Ward Chairs to mobilize their Third Party Voter Registration Agents (trained by the Bernalillo County Clerk) and others now, by competing with other ward chairs. We hope this ‘friendly competition’ will make a huge dent in the number of voters in Bernalillo County who have not yet registered,” she explained.
The DPBC will start contacting Ward Chairs by telephone with information about the challenge soon. Tips for starting, tracking and completing the month-long challenge will be provided to make it easy for Ward Chairs participate.
The challenge runs September 1-30. Data to be tracked include:
· List of Ward locations where voter registration events will take place
· Number of Ward volunteers participating
· Number of voters registered.
A prize will be awarded in October to the Ward that wins these categories.
