Achieving Unity

“In measurable and well-documented ways, social capital makes an enormous difference in our lives…Social capital makes us smarter, healthier, safer, richer, and better able to govern a just and stable democracy.” Robert D. Putnam

I am very lucky. I am around some incredibly sharp, principled, and dedicated people. We are Democrats. Our values span from conservative to progressive, and our experience ranges from newly activated to seasoned activists. We come from a variety of backgrounds, and we represent a multitude of differences. But we are Democrats, and we approach the 2019 and 2020 elections knowing that to win elections we must achieve Party unity. Achieving unity means bringing your voice and your presence to the conversation; cooperating and collaborating with others, so their voices are heard, too. Achieving unity is not a spectator sport, it’s a participative activity.

Over the next several months, the Democratic Party of Bernalillo County (DPBC) will be hosting and supporting opportunities for Democrats to network, contribute, and learn. Conferences, trainings, issue forums, social events, and organized actions are just a few of the activities in the works. Show up, participate respectfully, and connect with other Democrats who are doing the same. These gatherings are a time for us to get to know one another, grow our collective strength and knowledge, and develop our collective powerful voice. Achieving unity requires participation. It requires your participation and your voice.

On Saturday, July 20, from 9 am to 1 pm, the DPBC is hosting an Activist Conference featuring plenary sessions and trainings on subjects that may determine our success in 2019, 2020, and beyond. Childcare, a light breakfast, and lunch will be provided. Mark your calendars and register here.

Yours truly,
Flora
